Most agencies will want you to re-certify, or at lest take a refresher course with them.

You do not need to be certified for private duty cases. However, if you work for an agency, you definitely have to be certified to work as a CNA.

I have been doing home health care for years. I have worked for agencies and also in an assisted living. As for being certified, it depends on what the individual agency or assisted living wants. Most that I have worked with do not require certification, but I find that hospitals do. Just start making phone calls and see what the requirements are.
